Marek Żuławski studied Fine Art in Warsaw in 1926 under Felicjan Szcesny Kowarki and Karol Tichy. In 1935 he travelled across Western Europe, starting a scholarship in France after travelling through Italy. He settled in London but revisited Paris in 1947. His reputation was established following his creation of a fresco in the 'Homes and Garden' pavilion of the 1951 Festival of Britain. He was acquainted with the émigré Polish community in London, including Feliks Topolski, Halima Nalecz and Tadeusz Piotr Potworowski.
