George Him was born in Lodz Poland in 1900. Educated in Warsaw, Bonn and Leipzig, he travelled to Moscow in 1917 to study law. Events of the Russian Revolution caused him to return to Warsaw. He studied art and design at the Leipzig Academy for Graphic Art and Book Industry and worked as a graphic designer from 1922, in Germany, Poland and then in London. During the Second World War he produced posters for the Ministry of Information. He collaborated with Jan Le Witt from 1933 to 1954. He later designed the Warsaw Ghetto Exhibition which was shown in London and Frankfurt and the Masada Exhibition for the Observer, shown at the Festival Hall in London in 1966.
